Our Students

True North young adult students are young women and men ages 18-22 who will benefit from learning to identify limiting beliefs and behaviors while building confidence and identifying new strategies for a successful future. Our students are often bright and talented individuals who are struggling to find their place in the world or have difficulty establishing consistent motivation and follow through with age appropriate tasks and goals.

True North students may present with:

  • Mild to moderate OCD, bi-polar, NVLD
  • Substance use, eating-disordered behavior,  self-harming behaviors
  • Grief, loss and trauma
  • Anxiety, mood-disorders, depression, dysthymia
  • Struggle to meet age appropriate milestones
  • Academic decline and/or failure
  • Avoidant behavior
  • Inability to manage in college, home and/or professional settings
  • Adjustment and attachment disorders

Students who are actively suicidal, have a history of significant self-harm or violent behavior, are at-risk for running away, or have a thought disorder are not appropriate for True North.

Families choose True North because they want  their young adult to be in a safe and supportive environment where they can address their struggles, build confidence, and prepare for a successful future. Our families can expect unparalleled support and individual attention for their son or daughter and their family and our total commitment to a safe and appropriate peer community for their son or daughter.
